Wow. Isn't the cover gorgeous? I always appreciate a visually appealing cover. Okay, moving on. Blood Slave blew me away. Instantly, I was drawn into Hope's world, a world full of gritty, unspeakable issues that were hard at times to experience. Her courage and determination to survive kept me invested in the story. The ending caught me off-guard but in a good way. For a moment there, I was worried Hope wouldn't retain her sense of self. After all, she experiences horrific tragedies. A lesser person would have cracked and been permanently broken. Not so for Hope. She is a strong person with a good heart. I rooted for her the entire book. While Blood Slave is a romance, there's so much more to this story than hearts and flowers. The story has intricately woven layers that will captivate and please.
Warning, I would not recommend this book for the faint of heart. If you want to experience a book that will touch you in a deep, emotional level, read this book! Yes. There are sex scenes and yes, they are graphic and sometimes violent. Isn't that what we expect from vampire sex anyway? Blood Slave will haunt me for quite a while. As described, Blood Slave is truly a stand alone book. I can't wait to read the first two books in the series.
